Privacy Policy for LockNote
This privacy policy applies to the LockNote application (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, created by Michele Melchionna (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Freemium service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
1. Data Ownership and Local Storage
The Service Provider believes fundamentally in data ownership and user privacy. The Application does NOT host your personal data, notes, or passwords on external servers.
Every note you write and the password you set are stored exclusively within the Application's local database on your device. The Service Provider has no way to access, read, or recover your information. Your privacy is guaranteed by the fact that only you hold the keys to decrypt your data.
2. Protection, Encryption and Security Features
To ensure the confidentiality of your data, the Application implements the following security protocols:
- AES Encryption: Your notes are protected by the industry-standard AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). Every encryption operation takes place exclusively on your device; your data never travels over the network.
- Session Protection: With a password enabled, the session expires after the set inactivity time (foreground or background), keeping data safe even if the device is left unlocked.
- Recent Apps Privacy: The content preview in the recent apps list is obscured and screenshots are disabled. This prevents your sensitive data from being viewed accidentally.
- Biometrics: Biometric access (fingerprint/face unlock) may be used as a convenience for unlocking the app, managed locally via Android system APIs. It does not replace your password, which is encrypted and impossible for the Service Provider to recover or reset.
3. Automated Information Collection (Third-Party SDKs)
The Application itself does not collect personal data. However, it utilizes standard third-party libraries (SDKs) necessary for displaying advertisements, handling in-app purchases, managing app configurations, and monitoring performance. These services may automatically collect:
- Technical Device Info: Operating system version, device model, and unique device identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID).
- Usage Data & App Events: Analytics regarding interactions with features, screens visited, and configuration settings (via Firebase Remote Config).
- Diagnostics: Crash logs and error reports to maintain stability (via Firebase Crashlytics).
- Network Info: Your device's IP address (used by third parties for approximate location and ad delivery).
4. Third-Party Privacy Policies
The Application integrates services that adhere to their own privacy standards. You can review their policies here:
5. Data Backup, Recovery, and Responsibility
- Secure Export: You can use the "Backup" function to generate an encrypted file to be stored externally (e.g., personal cloud or PC) alongside Google's automatic backup.
- Data Recovery: While restoration may occur automatically through your Google account, using a previously created manual backup remains the most reliable way to ensure data recovery.
- Responsibility: Without a backup, uninstalling the app or a device malfunction will result in the permanent loss of your data. The Service Provider cannot recover forgotten passwords or lost notes.
6. Children’s Privacy
The Application does not knowingly collect or solicit personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. Since no personal data is transmitted to the Service Provider, children's notes remain entirely private on the device.
7. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. You are advised to consult this page regularly for any changes.
8. Contact Us
If you have any questions regarding privacy or data handling while using the Application, please contact the Service Provider via email at: mikdroid.lab@gmail.com
